            Robert “Lee” Getz, 88 of Altoona went home to be with the Lord early Friday morning April 24, 2020 at UPMC Altoona.

            He was born July 12, 1931 in Tyrone a son of the late Warren E. and Caroline E. (Friday) Getz. He married Joyce A. Woomer on April 21, 1956 in Tyrone.

            Surviving are his beloved wife, Joyce, of 64 years; two children, daughter Vicki L. Bilka (Joseph) and son Robert L. “Bob” Getz, II (Joanne) all of Altoona; four grandchildren, Kristi Seedenburg (Dave) of Altoona; Kelly Tyler (Mark) of Bellwood; Matthew Getz (Ashley) of Altoona; and Haley Lacovitch (Mike) of Altoona; six great grandchildren, Brayden, Riley, Kailyn, Logan, Kensley and Kaden; and two sisters, Darlene Singler and Barbara George both of Tyrone.

            Lee was preceded in death by three brothers, Eddie, John and Tom Getz; a sister, Virginia Getz; and a great grandson, Wyatt Getz.

            Mr. Getz was a very active member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone Area High School.

            He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving from 1949 to 1953 aboard the USS Brinkley Bass (DD-887) during the Korean Conflict.  

            Lee retired as a PBX repairman from A.T. & T. following 35 years’ service.

            He enjoyed his family as well as spending winters in Holiday, FL for over 25 years. He took pride in remolding and maintaining the family home. He also enjoyed reading and the outdoors in his younger days.

            Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

            Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

            In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to Wehnwood United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 2511 Juniata Gap Road, Altoona, PA 16601.
