Ruth Evelyn Ginter, 97 of Altoona went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning October 6, 2021 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
She was born December 1, 1923 in Altoona a daughter of the late Harry G. Mock and Grace (Werking) Mock Rhodes. She married Maillard C. “Lefty” Ginter on February 24, 1949 at the Altoona First Church of the Brethren. He preceded her in death June 14, 2000.
Surviving are two children, daughter Nancy J. Ferrier (Bob) of Jeannette, son Daniel C. Ginter (Karyl) of Altoona; five grandchildren; two great grandsons and a great granddaughter.
Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, H. Robert Mock.
Mrs. Ginter was a life member of Altoona First Church of the Brethren, where she also was the oldest member of the congregation and sang in the choir.
She was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1943 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce.
She retired as an aide from the Altoona Center in 1986 following twenty years’ service.
Ruth enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and working on puzzles.
Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday October 11, 2021 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. William Pepper officiating.
Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
