Sheldon Meckley Obituary

Sheldon Thomas Meckley, 89, of Hollidaysburg, died Monday, August 30, 2021, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Altoona on June 10, 1932, the son of the late Charles C. and Anna I. (Eisel) Meckley. On July 4, 1953, he married Dorothy Mae McMullen at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Dorothy preceded him in death on February 28, 2015.

Surviving are his daughter, Amy S. Clouse and husband, Mark, of Martinsburg; a grandson, Aaron T. Clouse of Martinsburg and his girlfriend, Genevieve LaFosse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles P. Meckley on April 22, 2018; and seven siblings: Frances Parks, Lawrence “Larry” Meckley, Leroy Meckley, Clarence “Jigs” Meckley, Jeannette Moore, James “Jim” Meckley and Donald Meckley.

Mr. Meckley was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society.

Sheldon was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Korean War. He retired from Bell Telephone on June 10, 1994, after over 30 years of service.

Sheldon enjoyed bowling at Holliday Bowl, Morrisons Cove Memorial Park and at the Bavarian Hall, wood working, and especially spending time with Aaron and watching him play Little League Baseball and Mock Trial.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or funeral service. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
