Sophia Jane Catherman

            Sophia Jane “Sophie” Catherman, 82, of Altoona, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at her home.

            She was born June 25, 1939, a daughter of the late Charles H. Sr. and Theresa (Kneidenger) Angermeier.

Sophie married the late James R. Catherman Sr., on February 28, 1984. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2003.

            Surviving are a son: Stephen A. (Karen J.) Barr, of Altoona; a granddaughter: Hannah R. (Joshua McMillan) Barr of Altoona; a brother: John Angermeirer, of Emmaus, Pa; her best buddy, Frankie; her special friend: Gary Helsel; and numerous extended family members and friends.

            Sophie was preceded in death by three sisters: Ann Mercer, Marcella Angermeier, Patricia Treese; and a brother: Charles H. Angermeirer, Jr.

            She attended Bellwood Antis High School and attended Altoona First Church of the Brethren.

            Sophie enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family. She was a lifetime member of Bavarian Aid Society, Altoona.

            A celebration of life is planned to be held at a future date.

            Interment will be made at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.
