Steven Knepp Obituary

     Steven D. Knepp, 61, of Hollidaysburg, died Thursday afternoon October 29, 2020 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring following an extended illness due to complications from a former battle with cancer. He was born October 12, 1959 in Altoona, a son of the late Jesse E. Jr. and Dorothy Louise (Lukehart) Knepp. He married Wayne C. Ellis on May 2, 2020.

       Surviving are his husband, Wayne; sister, Pamela K. Bitzel of Altoona; brother, Jeffrey E. Knepp (Theresa) of Blue Knob; and sister, Sheila Winstead (Dick) of Altoona; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

        Steven was preceded in death by a brother, Kenton S. Knepp; and an infant sister, Linda Knepp.

        Mr. Knepp was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church, Altoona.

     He was a 1977 graduate of Altoona Area High School; a 1982 graduate of the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Altoona Area Vo-Tech School and then graduated from Northumberland College with a degree in Nursing Home Administration.

       Steven began his career at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home as a nurse’s aide, then worked as an LPN and finally advanced to become the Assistant Commandant and Business Manager of the Home, where he retired following 31 years of service.

        He enjoyed collecting antiques, traveling in his motor home, camping at Raystown Lake and taking care of the horses and goats on his farm. He also greatly loved his Australian Cattle Dogs: Chloe, Cora, Sissy and Doc; and his barn dog, Bessie.

        He was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and the Colorado Ranger Horse Association where he served as a former board member.

        Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 4, 2020, at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 5715 Roselawn Ave., Altoona, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Rebecca Holland officiating.

        In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations please be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 198, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648; or Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
