Stewart E. "Stu" Trotter

            Stewart E. “Stu” Trotter, 83, of Hollidaysburg passed into God’s hands early Friday morning October 21, 2022, at his residence.

            He was born August 18, 1939, in Altoona a son of the late Chalmer E. and Winifred A. Trotter.

            Surviving are his wife, Betty M. Thomas Trotter whom he married November 28, 1964, a son Stewart L. Trotter and his wife Sandra (Galant) Trotter, two grandchildren, Olivia and Madison, a sister, Phyllis Kosut, three nieces, one nephew, and sisters-in-law, Joyce Pruonto, and Judy Thomas.

            Stewart and Betty celebrated 58 years of marriage.

            Mr. Trotter was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School; a graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree; and received his Master of Education degree from Penn State University.

            Stu was employed for 34 ½ years by the Altoona Area School District mostly teaching sixth grade at Irving Elementary School. Following his teaching career, Stu was employed by Kopp Drug, Hollidaysburg in customer medical deliveries.

            He loved attending his granddaughters’ school and musical performances when he was able, and meeting with his coffee group at McDonald’s for many years.

            His granddogs, Bennett, Bailey, and Ella Mae brought him great joy.

            Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday October 24, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Susan Gingery and Pastor Dave Hersh co-officiating.

            Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
