Terry Lee Shuke, Sr., 75, of Tyrone, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning December 12, 2021, at James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona.
He was born March 19, 1946, in Altoona a son of the late Frank H. and Larue M. (Tromm) Shuke. On June 24, 1967, he married the love of his life, Christine L. George at Fairview United Methodist Church, Altoona. Terry and Christine shared 47 years together, until she went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2013, due to a lengthy battle with cancer.
Surviving are his three sons: Terry L. Shuke, Jr. and wife, Janice of Tyrone, Todd A. Shuke and wife, Angie of Patton, and Charles E. Shuke of Altoona; seven grandchildren, Jaydyn and Jaylee, and Aubree, Aaron, Mackenzie, Abigail and Michael; and two brothers, Frank H. “Butch” Shuke, Jr. and Kathy of Jacksonville, FL, and James Shuke and wife, Jane of Lewistown; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Pamela A. Baker.
Terry was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School and in April of 1964, he started and instructed the Altoona High School Archery Club.
Mr. Shuke served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 to 1971.
Terry started working at A. T. & T. Company in 1964, and he retired from Lowe’s of Altoona in 2008 due to cancer.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday December 19, 2021, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where Military Honors will be accorded following the visitation.
Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
