Thomas A. Stewart

            Thomas A. Stewart, 64 of Altoona died unexpectedly early Sunday morning February 2, 2020 at UPMC Altoona.

            He was born April 15, 1955 in Altoona a son of the late Chester R. and Ina M. (Quarry) Stewart. He married Lynn T. Cooney in 1974 in Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Lynn; eight children, daughter Sherry L. Stewart (Scott Pfahler); daughter Laura L. Schobel (Jayen); son Joseph P. Stewart (Jennifer); son Brian A. Stewart (Nicole); daughter Melissa S. Garman (Corey); daughter Jamie M. Lafferty (Mike); son William R. Stewart (Emily); and daughter Kimberly A. Stewart all of Altoona; eighteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and eight siblings, sister Linda J. Delozier (Eugene “Pooch”) of Dunedin, FL; sister Shirley Y. Scalice (R. John); brother Lynn E. “Sonny” Stewart (Karen); brother James R. Stewart (Tammie); sister Mona L. Leach (Ronald); brother Kevin M. Stewart (Denise); brother Dennis M. Stewart (Cheryl); and brother Stephen P. Stewart (Becky) all of Altoona.

            Thomas was preceded in death by a son Christopher M. Stewart and a grandson Alexander D. “Xander” Stewart.

            He retired as a powerplant operator from Norfolk-Southern Railroad in 2011 following 33 years’ service.

            Thomas enjoyed hunting and fishing.

            Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Thursday February 6, 2020 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.
