Thomas H. Tantius

        Thomas H. Tantius, 86, of Altoona, died late Tuesday evening, August 9, 2022, at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

        He was born on October 14, 1936, in Altoona, a son of the late Fred and Freda (Redwitz) Tantius.

        Surviving are two sons: Donald C. Tantius (Debbie) of Duncansville and Scott Thomas Tantius (Kim) of Satellite Beach, FL; a stepson, Scott Patterson; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

        He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Beverly Tantius; a brother, Joe Tantius; and two sisters: Margaret “Margie” Mattson and Freda “Betty” Kubica.

        Thomas was 1955 graduate of Altoona High School. He then went on to proudly serve in the United States Army from 1956-1959.

        He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his time hunting, fishing, and camping. Thomas especially liked taking trips to Raystown Lake to camp and fish.

        A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, August 15, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.

        In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial donations in honor of Thomas be made to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd, Altoona, PA 16602.
