Thomas Edward “Tom” Walker, Sr., 67, of Spring Mills, died early Thursday morning February 10, 2022, at his residence.
He was born June 12, 1954, in Altoona a son of the late Joseph Walker and Adaline (Wyandt) Walker Hauser.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra Nevel Walker; son Thomas Walker, Jr. and his wife, Melissa; daughter Dana Walker Reilly; brother Ralph Walker and family; six beautiful grandchildren; brother-in-law, Marvin Nevel and his wife, Lee and their family; and sister-in-law, Patricia Swartz and her husband, Fred and their family.
Tom was preceded in death by his father; mother; and stepfather, Warren Hauser; two brothers, David Walker, and Frank Walker; and a sister, Jo Anne Walker.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1972-1976, and then in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 1978-1983.
He was a 1972 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1984 graduate of Penn State University with an associate degree in Electrical Engineering.
Tom retired as an electrical instrument technician from Corning, Inc. in 2009, and following, from Nittany Controls, State College in 2019.
He was a member of the Gardner Guards Drum and Bugle Corps.
He enjoyed camping; visiting National Parks, and State Parks; riding tourist railroads; and collecting stamps.
Tom was a member of the Jaycees where he was an Assistant Jaycee BB gun coach. He served as an Assistant Boy Scout Leader for Troop 381, and he also served as an Assistant Girl Scout Leader.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) Saturday February 19, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., Altoona where a funeral service will be held at noon with Donald Ross officiating.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
