Todd K. Wilkins, Sr., 67 of Altoona died late Saturday evening September 3, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family following an extended illness of vascular dementia.
He was born September 5, 1954, in Altoona a son of the late Robert James and Charlotte Elizabeth (Conrad) Wilkins. He married Diana L. Mills on July 2, 2013, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Diana; two sons, Todd K. Wilkins, Jr. (Kendra), and Andrew C. Wilkins both of Altoona; five grandchildren; eleven nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; a brother, Timothy C. Wilkins, Sr. (Stephanie) of Altoona; a sister-in-law, Kay Wilkins of Duncansville; a brother-in-law, Raymond E. Mills, Jr. of Bellwood, a sister in law, Sherry A. Foor of Georgia; and numerous extended family members.
Todd was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine “Kate” Wilkins; a brother, Robert W. Wilkins, Sr.; and a nephew, Brian Wilkins.
Mr. Wilkins was a member of St. James German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altoona.
He attended Penn State University.
He retired as a co-owner and building contractor from Wilkins Contracting, Altoona. Previously, Todd had been employed for many years by Ward Trucking, and Central Transport.
He enjoyed his Yorkie dogs; bowling; traveling, especially to Munich, Germany; river cruising; ocean cruising; and he was a connoisseur of beer, especially German beer, Spaten being his favorite.
Todd was made a Brother of the Craft when he became an Entered Apprentice Mason on September 2, 1980 with Logan Lodge No. 490, Free and Accepted Masons of PA; he continued his very active Masonic journey by becoming a Noble of Jaffa Shrine on December 5, 1981. Todd ultimately joined the Jaffa Shrine Concert Band. He previously had been a member of the Jaffa Drum & Bugle Corps, the Jaffa Cycle Corps, the former Jaffa Hillbillies, and the Jaffa Cruisers motorcycle club. Todd served as Chief Aide for Potentate Don Sharer, and as an Aide for many other Potentates. He served on the Jaffa Shrine Speakers Bureau for many years. He was a past president of the Altoona Masonic Hall Association. Todd’s Masonic memberships also included membership in the Valley of Altoona, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite bodies; and Mountain Royal Arch Chapter No. 189 and Mountain Commandery No. 10, Knights Templar, York Rite bodies.
He was a member of the Blair County Suicide Prevention Task Force; a life member and former Trustee of the Bavarian Aid Society; a life member of the Swiss Club; and a member of the Unter Uns Music and Entertainment Society. Todd was a member of the Pine Creek Regatta Gang for several years.
Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday September 11, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a Masonic funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m., and again from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday September 12, 2022, at the funeral home where a memorial service will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Rebecca Shuster officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
