William Edward Bickel

            William Edward “Bill” Bickel, 66 of Altoona died unexpectedly early Thursday morning March 26, 2020 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

            He was born July 25, 1953 in Altoona a son of Hilda Pauline (Lucas) Bickel and the late William David Bickel. He married Kathleen Ann Higgins on August 21, 1993 at Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            Surviving are his wife, Kathleen; a son, David William Bickel; his mother, Hilda P. Bickel all of Altoona; a sister, Judith Kay Gisewhite (Larry) of Milroy; a brother, Jeffery Lynn Bickel of Duncansville; a sister, Cheryl Ann Bickel of Altoona; and special nieces, Tabitha Fellabaum and Corinda Norris.

            He was preceded in death by in-laws, John and Beverly Higgins.

            Mr. Bickel was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            He was a 1972 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

            Bill was formerly employed as a delivery driver for NAPA, Tyrone.

            He enjoyed woodworking, watching old western movies, genealogy, cooking, golf, the “Beatles”, the Cincinnati Bengals and Penn State sports.

            A future Celebration of Life is planned to be held at Second Avenue United Methodist Church, Altoona.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family in care of the funeral home would be appreciated.
