William Weigley Obituary

     William P. “Bill” Weigley, 80, of Altoona, died early Wednesday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late William B. and Ethel M. (Wise) Weigley. On May 7, 1966, he married Barbara J. (Replogle) Weigley at Broad Avenue Presbyterian Church, Altoona. 

     Surviving, along with his wife of 55 years, Barbara, are: two children: Scott Weigley (Ann Marinaccio) of Buffalo, N.Y. and Brenda Wasilewski (Mike) of Palmyra, Pa.; six grandchildren: Kaci and Kyle Wasilewski, Maranda and Trinity Weigley, and Alex and Vincent Marinaccio; two brothers-in-law: Paul Walter and Alfred Replogle; a nephew, Jeffrey Walter; a niece, Debbie Replogle; and numerous extended family members and friends. 

     He was preceded in death by two sisters: Marjorie Burns and Jeanne Walter; and a nephew, Gregg Walter.  

     Mr. Weigley was a 50-year member of Providence Presbyterian Church, Altoona.  

     He was a 1959 graduate of Altoona High School. He proudly went on to serve in the U. S. Navy and retired from the U. S. Army Reserves.  

     Bill was employed with the Altoona Mirror and then retired in 2003 from PennDOT. 

     He enjoyed bowling, watching car races, and tavern poker. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Bill was a lifetime member of the Bavarian Hall and a member of Cesare Battisti.  

     Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m.

     In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Providence Presbyterian Church “Soup on Saturday” program, 2401 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601 or to St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, 1523 Adams Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.
