Wynema M. “Nema” Decker, 96, formerly of Lakemont, died Monday morning, August 30, 2021. She had been a resident at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg for 4 years.
She was born September 21, 1924 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Robert R. and Martha (Feather) Ritchey. She married Donald F. Decker on September 10, 1947 at Christ Evangelical Reformed Church by the Rev. Stuart C. Snodgrass. Donald preceded her in death December 26, 1992.
Surviving are a son, D. Douglas “Doug” Decker and wife, Deborah L., of Altoona; two grandsons: Robert Decker in California and Ryan Decker of Altoona; and three sisters: Flora Neal of Tyrone, Gale Clapper of Lakemont and Sherry Robeson of East Freedom.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert J. Ritchey, Jon Ritchey and Douglas Ritchey; and two sisters, Germaine Ritchey and infant, Wanda Faye.
Mrs. Decker was a member of Grace United Church of Christ where she was a member of their Women’s Fellowship group.
She was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School and was a representative of their Lakemont Alumni Association.
Nema worked for Sylvania Electric Company for 10 years and retired from Modern Communications/Phonepower after more than 22 years service. She had also assisted her son at his business, Doug Decker Interiors.
A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
