David W. Baker, 62 of Altoona died Sunday April 10, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. 

He was born July 26, 1953 in Altoona, a son of the late Paul and Ethel (Robison) Baker. He married Patti L. Nardelli on September 8, 1973 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife Patti; three children, Christine Willnecker and husband David, Brodie Baker and wife Stephanie, and Ashley Baker and fiancé Cory Hinterberger; two grandchildren, Payton and Dominic Baker; four brothers, Patrick Baker, Ed Baker, PR Baker, and Dr. J. Newton Hollobinko; and a father in law Don Nardelli.

David was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne Hollobinko.

He was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School.

Mr. Baker was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Altoona.

He retired in 2006 in customer service for People’s Natural Gas after 28 years of service.

David was a member of Logan Lodge #490 F&AM, Tyrone Elks Lodge No. 212,

 the Bavarian Aid Society, and the Buccinese Society.

            He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the beach, and spending time with his grandkids and family. He was also an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday April 14, 2016 and 10-11 a.m. Friday April 15, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday April 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Altoona with Father Frank Scornaienchi officiating. Committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
