John Robert “Ike” “Bob” Eichelberger, 83 of Altoona died Monday afternoon August 1, 2016 at his residence

            He was born September 11, 1932 in Hollidaysburg a son of the late Vance W. and Pauline M. (Treese) Eichelberger. He married Sandra J. Fleming on October 28, 1967 in Williamsburg.

            Surviving are his wife, Sandy; son Gary L. Eichelberger of Philadelphia; daughter Melissa J. Welker and her husband David M. of Venetia; twin granddaughters, Sarah Grace and Hannah Ruth Welker; a brother Vance T. Eichelberger of Malvern; and nieces and nephews.

            Ike was a 1951 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.

            He was U.S. Naval Reserve veteran.

            He retired from the quality control department of Proctor-Silex after twenty years’ service and then retired from the Altoona Area School District transportation department.

            Ike enjoyed traveling with Sandy in their motorhome and he also enjoyed boating and camping.

            He was a member of the Good Sam travel club.

            Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday August 6, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane Coy officiating. Interment will be made at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
