Richard A. Quirin, 71, passed away peacefully, Saturday December 18th, at his home in Altoona.

               He was born in Altoona, July 28, 1945 a son Anna (Bice) and Frank Yeager. As a member of the 82nd Air Bourne he was proud of his service in the Army as a paratrooper and cook.

               He married his love, Grace E. Yingling on February 22, 1969. They made their home in Altoona, where through good times and bad, they had tears, laughter, and love.

               Dick was employed at Marhofer Bakery, as a baker, until they closed. He was then employed as an assistant manager at the State Liquor Stores, retiring in 2006. He loved to fish, hunt, and play golf. A skilled mechanic, carpenter, and general handyman, Dick was always willing to lend a hand to anyone needing help. All who met and knew him, loved his willingness to laugh and have a good time.

               He preceded in death by his three brothers; Joe Yeager, Kenny and Bill Quirin.

               He is survived by his wife, Grace; his daughters; Wendy (Mark) Swartz and Gretchen L. Quirin both of Altoona; a step daughter Lisa (Calvin) McCommons of Rolesville, NC; a sister, Sharon Price of Altoona; a sister in law, Jo Zane of West Virginia; a grandson, Zachary T. Swartz; a step granddaughter Kayla (Raymond) Ruiz-VeVe of Raleigh, NC; a step grandson, Alex Ruiz-VeVe and numerous nieces and nephews.

               The Quirin family would extend thanks to the Aesera Care Hospice, Joleen RN, Grace CAN and Pastor Mary, for helping him peacefully transition into death.

Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday December 21, 2016 at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona, where a celebration of life service will take place at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Mary Emery officiating.
